what a lovely day! needed to run some errands in the morning and it was, unfortunately, raining. but it was a light spring rain and everything smelled really good. partner and i went over to the big park and it was full of blooming azaleas, positively glowing with color. extremely fragrant tulips, too. snails! very cute. and almost nobody else around, felt very fairy-tale.
we picked up some good bread (quite an achievement here...), had a good long walk and an interesting conversation about spirituality, the prerequisite of consistency/continuity for a sense of self/personality, and what exactly makes the "good vs evil" dichotomy so difficult to transcend, compared to all the other ones.
at home i got back to the quilt-making. tackled the most tedious part - cutting out another batch of the little squares. at least i found the fabric scissors, which are actually my mom's old "kitchen scissors" - she had proper fabric scissors she kept for herself. but among the different moves we made individually over the years, i ended up with her 20+ year old kitchen scissors. fortunately for me, they're still 10x better than any other scissors of ours. listen, it wouldn't be a "me" quilt if i cut it with good scissors and like... ironed out the seam allowances and whatever else. it needs to look me-made. (note to self - maybe the guy at the mall does scissor sharpening?)
