hey everybody, autumn is here! i think? it kind of snuck up on me. we've gone straight from Heatwave to a 12C minimum and 22C maximum temperature, cool and rainy. it's been a couple of such days already and it doesn't seem like much will change in the next two weeks so maybe? autumn? it's taken a while for the house to cool down, then i was finally getting some sleep after a whole summer of bad nights, seems like i still can't get quite enough of it. indoors it's still rarely tshirt weather, and i've only worn long pants outside once (today!) i'm easing into it mentally. maybe real autumn starts Now (what with the long pants)? i accept, welcome to the good season! looking forward to the sub-seasons of "back to school", "harvest", and "ancestors" :)
bits and pieces:
- separate post coming about my less-internet progress. it's good! caught up on spinning recently and other activities:
- i started learning dvorak. so far i'm just hurting my shoulder, but it's good to feel the brain stretch lol
- now that there's more mental space, maybe i'll remember i want to build out the website. i've been adding a lot of stuff recently but all of it new, not really filling in the gaps, fleshing out the structure i've built
- i've been meditating with an app and while i liked their earlier instruction, the later sessions start introducing "labeling" with words and that just completely takes me out of it, having to reach for/make Words happen. i'll keep going just to learn more approaches/techniques but i might have to alternate that with un-guided sessions by myself. although of course Being With the Frustrating experiences is also a perfect way to practice. alas, i am not enlightened enough to Just Do It for its own sake, i personally want the peace and refreshment part of meditation for now
- decided to read project hail mary after all. i saw the movie and while i did like the space romp i felt there was some serious tonal dissonance, some things under-explored etc. wondering if the book actually tackles those, knowing the author's style from a previous attempt... we'll see! here's a soundscape i made to have in the background, another fun activity. i wonder if you can access the custom mix??
