two deck reading, kind of a variation on that historical spread - majors on top, minors on bottom, except i decided the fully scenic deck (aquarian tarot) will function as the majors and the pip deck (trionfi della luna) will stand in for the pips. ironic that there's two majors in the pip row lol. and yes, it's one week before the official start of november, so - as is traditional - the november decks came out.
the cards drawn were:
7 of swords, 6 of rods, page of swords in the top row
2 of coins, emperor, the world in the bottom row
i don't remember the classic positions so maybe something freeform. the 7, looking to the left and propped up by the two of coins feels like what i'm doing now with tarot - taking a look at other people's "standard practices", their spreads and methods and opinions on tarot, and finding inspiration in that. i don't really have any tarot friends and i tend to stay off of tarot social media because it's all decks decks decks, but there are ways to find interesting material that's more about actually using vs collecting the tools. and since i've been ill the last few days, there's been a lot of tv time, i've found my way into some new tarot corners.
seeing as i already have my own strong foundation, everything i carry away from there has the capacity to be enriching and inspiring vs. confusing or destabilizing. i'm plenty certain of what i Know, even if it's not traditional "hierophant" knowledge and more something i've learned through action (the aries association of the emperor). in fact, that action and certainty probably came about in exactly this way - look at someone's practice, try it out, keep what's "victorious" and feels like it fits and props up my understanding, discard the rest. whether it's in a book or seeing someone do a reading online, there are many ways to gather that knowledge (thinking of the empire extracting resources from elsewhere - emperor heading for the world - except in this case nobody is actually deprived of that resource.)
in a way, there's a sort of study - the page of swords is pinning down the world with his intellect, slowing it down and zooming in. i'm not sure which piece of my current exploration this applies to but it looks promising. for now i've only been "vaguely energized" about tarot, especially pip decks again. i still have 1.5h of a video to watch, and there's a new-to-me guy doing an informative series about each of the cards across different tarot traditions, starting with the historic decks - maybe that's the "entirety" that's being sliced and diced that the world card is pointing to? i haven't checked it out yet, but i'll be on the lookout for what this could be now!
