april's coming so here are some random updates on the year's project:
i did buy a Second Thing of the year: carding brushes. but! they're doing what they were supposed to - helping me make progress on that kilogram of fibre from last year. so not only it's not just sitting there, crafting in general has inspired me to do more things. i still want to try make a frame loom, try sprang weaving, too. but i don't have the resources for that right now. i did start a little patchwork project - my first, all by hand. i was switching out clothes from winter to summer and did some sorting. whatever was in too bad a shape to be donated got chopped up instead. so i'm hand-piecing some blocks. probably won't finish anything just yet, might need to collect more scraps before it amounts to anything. and then either buy the batting and backing (next year?) or use a flimsy second hand coverlet that we have as a 2 in 1 and just quilt onto that?
kind of surprised about my finances. i thought if i don't spend whatever x amount i have each month on bullshit, i'd have saved almost 3x by now. but it's even less than x/2. what the heck? i do still support some patreons but. idk. feels strange. i don't have the Little Treats and also i don't have the bigger long-term satisfaction of having saved? feels like a scam.
i did break and go to the library but the library books aren't cutting it, i guess it's just not Reading Time. when it's reading time, i'm sure i can make more headway with what i've got on the shelves. so it wasn't my books, it was the headspace. i also did look around at my usual tarot sites and i'm happy to report it's all shit/i'm not interested at all in any of the new available things. i have some vaguely gimmicky decks opened on makeplayingcards, but i don't know if they'll survive on the wish-list for long.
thinking about the april tarot decks. like last month i was champing at the bit to start with the march decks (thoth and the ritual tarot), this month i'm kind of dreading the april decks. i didn't really pick the april and may decks, they were the leftovers after all the other ones got assigned to a more fitting month. i guess i did pick the crystal tarot reissue for its vibrant green, to match the spring energy. the second one is the good old plaid-back RWS. i'm doubtful mostly because usually i don't ever reach for the RWS and the crystal tarot uses the picard system i haven't really acquainted myself with too well yet. (and re-uses backgrounds, apparently without rhyme or reason, could be frustrating). maybe i'll be surprised?
so far the ranking goes:
i kind of like enchanted more but i reached for the '23 more often (probably because it's been the only pip deck so far. i know for a fact that when all my pip decks are available, this one is one of the least picked ones). i'm happy with how it's looking, a very clear separation between the top 3 and bottom 3.
