autumn signs

aside from back to school season and the witchy eclipse, autumn has been barreling through some other milestones. (i'm not really sure what you do with milestones. achieve? pass?)

• the first mushroom growth - a very bright, robust chicken of the woods.
• first tiny mushrooms as well, popping up under ferns and such.
• partner and i got caught in a downpour in the park, tried waiting it out but it was so strong that no density of trees provided any real shelter. ended up springing down muddy paths, wringing clothes out downstairs, and turning on the heating for the first time this season to help dry the clothes out.
• there was the first shiny conker (muddy from the day before, so i left it on the ground. picked up another one the day after. so silky smooth).
• the first proper storm, flashy and rumbly. passing by to leave behind a double rainbow. this one i admired from indoors. actually it was a few consecutive days of intermittent storms!
• clouds chasing across the sky, courtesy of the strong winds.
• some geese flying above! not proper Vs, but a couple here and there.

looking forward to what's next! the equinox is just a week away. is it time for some autumn media? watch over the garden wall? play night in the woods? or a brief stint with stardew valley? kind of feels off when we're still supposed to get a heatwave...
