dealing with youtube
28/01/26
i'm trying something specific with my youtube problem. maybe my flashcards will help me stay on track and actually remember it's something i want to do. here's what i've come up with to prevent me from falling into video time sinks so easily:
- generally do things off the computer
- if i'm on the computer - try for offline activities
- if i'm online - at least not on youtube
- if i'm on youtube - it's allowed as background noise to other activities - turn it off once activity is done
some watching is allowed! but!
- only two videos per day
- they have to be somehow pertinent to my life and interests or educational (and not purely random stuff like reaction videos)
- i have to Actively Watch them and engage with the material somehow - take notes, explore my own thoughts in relation to the info, implement a takeaway etc.
wasn't too bad yesterday!
- i listened to some ttrpg actual play while knitting
- some music while meditating
- watched a tarot video and did my own reading for the day in the guy's style
- watched a guy explain a game loop for solo ttrpg play - haven't used it but took notes for later and am excited to try!
