feeling positive towards both of these, although i didn't do all that much reading this month.
the drowning world has always felt a bit like scrying into a pool. it's a deck that insists on ancestral contact, something i don't usually tend to do. but summer is a very family-oriented time for me and that includes all the deceased. maybe that's part of why i picked it for this month? either way, the way it reads doesn't feel all that much tarot-y to be honest, i'm beginning to wonder if it should even be considered part of this project/my general deck collection... or if it should just live separately on my altar. i wouldn't know how to rank it other than "top, somewhere".
the morgan-greer is very nostalgic for me. in the recent past it's definitely been a deck i had to make myself reach for, not a good sign. and usually i'd put it away after only a short while - the colors just seem so incongruent with each other. there's the warm 1960s/70s feel to the palette, except for the yellows - you'd think the easiest "warm" color - are faded in a greenish-grey sort of way. somehow that wasn't much of a problem this time. (although there still remain others, like the fact that the artist's choice to zoom in on the figures kind of de-emphasizes what's happening in favor of the actual person, if that makes sense? reducing the entire scene and environment down to the one Actor, not sure if that helps).
like i said, i haven't read all that much this month, but even so, just shuffling and looking through this deck has been comforting. i've had this particular copy for something like 20 years and have fond memories of it carrying me through some shitty times. i don't think i'm ready to completely let it go (luckily that's not the aim of this project). it remains to be seen whether it ultimately retires to "honorary" storage or takes up place somewhere in the middle of the ranking. it seems both this month's decks will be very hard to place...
