new compass

listening to: no one knows - queens of the stone age

i'm doing a little thing i stole from havi brooks. "breathing the compass". for a given period of time, or project, or however you want to apply it, you choose eight words to guide you. qualities you want to embody, values you want to honor, something to inspire and keep you going. you assign one word to each compass point and then, every morning, evening, or whenever you need, you turn in that direction and invite it in via breath. or you can visualize facing each direction, or simply that the qualities are arriving from their direction.

in the past i'd be quite strategic about which word goes where, but now i'm just winging it, and it's interesting to see how it plays out. how in certain ways it still makes sense for quality x to be in the east, even if it makes less sense for it to be opposite quality y in the west. and just topographically, knowing what places and activities i engage with in the world - how that maps onto wherever i'm breathing from. i think it's great for what havi calls unstuckifying. seeing all the unexpected combinations, kind of expanding your view of things, shaking off the dust of the old patterns.

anyway, here are the words and concepts i'm picking for this transition-into-autumn period, maybe six weeks. kind of trying to solidify the New Me and make room for growth.
