numero b

my most recent deck, finished in october 2026 (i'm not sure when i started it. it might have been in 2025 but it was a quick first glance through the materials. i've done a majority of it in summer 2026). having had much success in my very first full tarot deck - an experiment in collage art sourced entirely from one issue of the shadowplay magazine - i decided to replicate the process with an issue of numero berlin:

numero berlin

that particular issue was devoted to sex, so the imagery was charged. and it was split into three magazines, so i certainly had enough to work with. the general aesthetic of the publication (lots of red and black-and-white) led me to believe the cards will have a striking, cohesive look. alas, i haven't assessed that all too correctly - while the text and backgrounds of the magazine layout were indeed very homogeneous, the photographs and art were all quite different.

at first this was a little disappointing, as i was hoping to replicate the process and result of the shadowplay. but looking at it now, i'm quite satisfied. it's just a different sort of thing, a deck of its own:
