interesting that it’s the third card I’ve done and it’s all been kind of difficult cards. I wonder if we’ll get the tower next, or more of the swords…
I think in this deck (marseille-waite) it is more clear to me that that’s not a sunrise, better times coming ahead. If it were a sunrise, wouldn’t it be more intuitive to have it on the left? I mean I know east is the “right” side of the compass, but looking at images and reading them in a western, linear, left to right fashion, the right is the sunset… so this is Finished.
AC XVII AW (two aces again! The other ones from the 7 of wands)
The card pull confirms – we’re entering a period of night, and the ace of cups probably means to show droplets but they kind of look like snow. Dark and cold times ahead.
individually:
• that’s where the light gets in. wounded and vulnerable, we can be more open to help and faith. Is there an english equivalent of the polish “jak trwoga to do boga”? “when you’re in fear, then you turn to god? (derogatory)” I don’t think it should be derogatory. I’ve often read/heard it said that god is constantly reaching towards us, we just refuse to reach back
• acknowledging the deep pain and betrayal as an essential part of healing, can’t skip over it or just put it behind you. There’s also that thing where if you don’t take a break your body/mind will force you to take it sooner or later. So even in this wretched state, it’s still a much needed cessation of activity.
• the ace of wands suggests the smallest stirring spark at the end. So maybe it /is/ sunrise afterall? Or just the type of motivation that can only be found in those depths? Finally choosing something different, being tired of the familiar pain enough to finally be able to face the uncertainty of something new, better? That kind of change a person can only do for themselves, regardless of how many well wishing and helpful people they have around them. An internal “enough is enough”?
Collectively:
the woman in the star is turning away from the fiery wand and towards the fountain of the cup, that’s where she’s drawing from. The swords have been maxed out, you’re at your wit’s end and more thinking is not required, is not the solution. Neither is action. If swords haven’t helped then maybe it’s time for the soft cup, the mirror of emotions and relationships. Healed through connection? The 10S figure seems to have been unanimously put down, what was their relationship with the group? Was it enemies or their own people? It feels like a magnified 5S, except instead of one bully there’s one victim.
what about the two aces? Compare and contrast with the 7W and its coin and sword aces (the frantic activity of the 7W needing grounding and a new idea, new approach before you burn out?) Cups are often associated with soul and wands with spirit. 10S = broken spirit that needs renewing? Crisis of faith? Whole world upside down because of an intellectual model of it failing? It is after all a mental suit. Your understanding of the world has failed you and it feels like death – what’s even real and reliable anymore?
