week 48 - suspension
01/12/24
big events:
- a lot of stress around the uncertain renovations. when they finally arrived it turned out they'll take twice the estimated time, of course. so they will continue next week. the worst, messiest, loudest part is done at least, and it was kind of fun to hide out with the partner in the tiny bedroom. sharing whatever we were working on or reading about, playing a couch co-op on the laptop, having a little bed-tray picnic. maybe we should do more of that on purpose?
- mom's early xmas package arrived. she's confused but she's got the spirit! particularly happy with the candy and the moisturizing balm i specifically ordered. it smells divine and comes in a very stimmy tin. it's a whole grounding ritual
- to counter the saturday reno, partner took friday off work and we had a nice big day downtown, just enjoying the weather, looking at xmas stuff, handing out some money to buskers and monks. finally went for that long awaited 5 guys lunch. and i got some cool stickers!
small items:
- my spirituality shifted again towards an ancestral focus
- started planning for next year, i think i want it to be a year of more purposefully creating memorable experiences, big and small
- partner surprised me with /another/ notebook, since it turned out the hobonichi is a bit too small. this time it's a midori b6 slim, but i worry that it'll also be too small and i'll end up "wasting" two v good notebooks (of course nothing is stopping me from repurposing them for something other than a long-form journal)
- spontaneous forest walk (to the mall, without much of a purpose). carried out some tarot decks to the donation box, walked back with a coffee discussing zen and bhakti yoga
- speaking of tarot, i'm considering doing the tarot advent, maybe with little dogboy doodles inspired by the cards? time will tell. but after all the overload of the last few days, i'm choosing to work with the (lulu mayo version of the) kawaii tarot. save me, kawaii tarot!
report done. wishing everyone a cozy start to the month!
